For those of you who signed up forever ago and don't remember a damn thing about me, my name is Danny Cherry Jr. By day, I'm a Customer Service Representative and caffeine-addled office-drone with an MBA. But by night, I write political and personal essays; novels; narrative nonfiction; and short stories.
I have written for Buzzfeed News, Politico, The Daily Beast, and more; and fiction for Apex Magazine, Fiyah Lit Mag, amongst others. My short story “Brief Life Story of Lila” was added to the Locus Magazine recommended reading list for 2022, as well as the BEST AMERICAN SCI-FI & FANTASY 2023 notable stories list.
Thank you all for subscribing and taking interest in my debut novel. Whether you know me from being an ARC reader, the NOLA literary scene, my nonsensical ramblings on social media, or my magazine writing, I truly appreciate you all. Sounds corny as shit probably, but I really do mean it. Being a writer is something I love beyond what can be expressed in this email. It’s all I’ve dreamed of since I was a little boy, and it is something that brings me unmeasurable joy. But without someone there to read my work, my words would fade into a void.
For now, the Big Easy Press imprint will be solely for my work, but if things go well, hopefully one day the imprint will be able to publish the work of others!
I'll wrap this up by saying to please consider sharing the news of my book being available for preorder, if possible. Us indie writers live and die by word of mouth, and my next reader could very well be someone you know.
